Durgama’s Seizure of the Vedas and the Gods’ Refuge in Yogamāyā (दुर्गमकृतवेदनाशः—योगमायाशरणगमनम्)
ततस्तेजोमयं चक्रं विधाय परितः शिवा । रक्षणार्थं देवतानां स्वयं तस्माद्बहिर्गता
tatastejomayaṃ cakraṃ vidhāya paritaḥ śivā | rakṣaṇārthaṃ devatānāṃ svayaṃ tasmādbahirgatā
ನಂತರ ಶಿವಾ (ಪಾರ್ವತಿ) ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ತೇಜೋಮಯ ಅಗ್ನಿಚಕ್ರವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಷಣಾವರಣವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದಳು; ದೇವತೆಗಳ ರಕ್ಷಣಾರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಅವಳು ಸ್ವತಃ ಅದರ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೊರಟಳು.

The verse highlights Śivā-Śakti as the active, compassionate power that shields devotees and the cosmic order; divine protection is portrayed as a conscious act of grace (anugraha) rather than mere force.
The “radiant circle” reflects Saguna divinity—Śiva with Śakti manifesting protective power. In Linga worship, devotees approach the same protective presence through ritual enclosure, sanctification, and surrender to Śiva-Śakti as Pati (Lord) and His inseparable energy.
A takeaway is protective japa and bhāvanā: mentally form a circle of Śiva-tejas through Panchākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) while visualizing Śiva-Śakti’s luminous protection; this aligns with Shaiva contemplative safeguarding before worship.
