Sarasvatī-avatāra-prasaṅgaḥ
Account of Sarasvatī’s Manifestation and the Humbling of the Devas
tataḥprabhṛti te daivā hitvā garvaṃ samāhitāḥ | umāmārādhayāmāsuryathāpūrvaṃ yathāvidhi

It teaches that divine grace is approached through humility: when pride is dropped and the mind becomes steady (samāhita), devotion becomes effective—here expressed as reverent worship of Umā, the Śakti inseparable from Śiva.
In Shaiva understanding, honoring Umā supports saguna-upāsanā of Śiva because Śiva is worshipped together with His Śakti; correct, rule-based worship (yathāvidhi) reflects disciplined devotion rather than ego-driven religiosity.
The verse emphasizes yathāvidhi and samāhita—perform worship with scriptural order (cleanliness, offerings, mantra) and cultivate mental composure; a practical takeaway is steady japa (e.g., Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a humble, ego-free attitude.
