Suta Goswami (narrating the Uma-saṃhitā teaching to the sages, listing sacred names/forms of Śiva for worship)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Sthala Purana: Paśupati here is doctrinally dense: Śiva as Pati of paśus (bound souls) and lord over pāśa (bondage). The surrounding kṣetra-nāmas (Parvateśa, Hāṭakeśvara, Bṛhaspatīśvara, Tilabhāṇḍeśa) continue the theme of localized liṅga-presences where the same Pati is worshipped under different titles.
Significance: Remembering Śiva as Paśupati reorients worship toward liberation: the devotee acknowledges bondage (pāśa) and seeks the Lord’s governance over concealment (tirodhāna) and release (anugraha).
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It teaches that the one Supreme Pati (Śiva) is approachable through many sacred names and local manifestations; devotion to any authentic form leads the bound soul (paśu) toward grace and liberation.
These names indicate Saguna approaches to the same Lord—often centered on a Liṅga in particular kṣetras—affirming that worship of Śiva in a chosen name/form is valid while recognizing His one underlying reality.
Adopt a chosen Śiva-name (nāma) for japa—ideally alongside Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—and worship the Liṅga with mantra, bhakti, and steady remembrance of Śiva as Paśupati, the liberating Lord.
