Enumeration of the Manvantaras and Manus
भौमस्यैवाधिकारे वै पूर्वकल्पस्तु पूर्यते । इत्येतेऽनागताऽतीता मनवः कीर्तिता मया
bhaumasyaivādhikāre vai pūrvakalpastu pūryate | ityete'nāgatā'tītā manavaḥ kīrtitā mayā
ಭೌಮ (ಪೃಥ್ವಿ) ಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರವ್ಯಾಪ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ವಕಲ್ಪದ ವೃತ್ತಾಂತ ಇಂತೆ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಅತೀತ ಹಾಗೂ ಅನಾಗತ ಮನುಗಳನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕೀರ್ತಿಸಿದೆನು.

The verse closes a cosmological teaching: by contemplating kalpas and the succession of Manus, one loosens attachment to transient worldly phases and turns toward Pati (Shiva), the timeless Lord beyond cyclical creation.
While the verse is cosmological, its implication is devotional: the changing rulers of time (Manus) belong to the created order, whereas Shiva—worshiped as the Linga and as Saguna for devotees—remains the steady refuge across all kalpas.
A practical takeaway is daily japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with contemplation on impermanence—remembering that kalpas and manvantaras pass, but devotion to Shiva leads the bound soul (paśu) toward liberation.
