Manvantarāṇukīrtana
Enumeration of the Manvantaras and Manus
tathaiva dharmasāvarṇī rudrasāvarṇireva ca | devasāvarṇirākhyātaṃ iṃdrasāvarṇireva ca
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Rudra
Cosmic Event: Continuation of future Manvantara naming; theophoric ‘Rudra’ indicates Śaiva coloration within cosmic administration
This verse preserves a sacred enumeration of divinely significant names, reminding the listener that cosmic order (dharma) and divine governance unfold in structured cycles—ultimately upheld by Pati (Śiva) as the inner ruler beyond all cycles.
While the verse itself is a name-listing, in the Shaiva Siddhanta frame such enumerations situate worldly administration within Śiva’s Saguna sovereignty—encouraging devotees to see all offices and epochs as dependent on the Lord symbolized by the Liṅga.
A practical takeaway is nāma-smaraṇa (reverent recitation of sacred names) with Śiva-bhakti—ideally paired with the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to anchor the mind in the Lord who transcends all enumerated cycles.
