Enumeration of the Manvantaras and Manus
ete ca manavaḥ ṣaṭ te saṃproktā munipuṃgava | vaivasvato muniśreṣṭha sāṃprataṃ manurucyate

Cosmic Event: Present Manvantara identified as Vaivasvata (current aeon of human history)
The verse situates the listener within sacred time (Manvantaras), reminding that dharma unfolds in ordered cycles under the supreme governance of Pati (Shiva), and that spiritual striving for liberation is to be pursued in the present age.
By identifying the present Manu, the Purana frames the current cosmic administration in which prescribed Shaiva observances—Linga worship, mantra-japa, and vrata—are to be practiced now as effective means to approach Saguna Shiva and realize His transcendence.
A practical takeaway is to follow the dharmic disciplines of the present age—especially Shaiva daily worship (Linga-puja), Panchakshara japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), and purification with bhasma—performed with devotion for steadiness of mind.
