Sthala Purana: Not connected to a Jyotirliṅga; it is a narrative bookkeeping verse: Sūta confirms the traditional number (twelve) and that Aditi’s sons have been listed in order—typical Purāṇic ‘smṛti’ validation of cosmological administration.
It affirms smṛti-based order in cosmic narration—remembering the devas and their lineage supports dharma and right understanding of the universe, which in Shaiva thought ultimately points to Pati (Śiva) as the supreme governor beyond all categories.
Though the verse itself is genealogical, it situates the devas (including solar powers) within a larger Purāṇic framework where their authority is subordinate; Saguna Śiva—worshipped as the Liṅga—is the transcendent ground in whom all divine functions are harmonized.
A practical takeaway is svādhyāya (scriptural recitation) and remembrance of divine order; one may pair such study with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to orient knowledge toward liberation.
