(Sṛṣṭi-vistāra-praśnaḥ) — The Detailed Inquiry into Creation

Sthala Purana: No Jyotirliṅga setting; the ‘search for the end of a direction’ mirrors the futility of grasping the infinite through finite striving—an experiential enactment of tirodhāna (limitation) upon bound souls.
It highlights the Shaiva teaching that the Infinite (Pati) cannot be reached by physical striving or measuring the cosmos; without inner turning toward Shiva through devotion and right knowledge, the ‘end’ is not attained.
The narrative implies that seeking Shiva as the limitless reality is not fulfilled by external pursuit alone; Saguna worship—such as Linga-upasana—gives the mind a sanctified focus that turns the seeker inward toward the limitless Shiva.
A practical takeaway is to replace mere outward searching with inward sadhana: japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namah Shivaya) and steady meditation on Shiva’s boundlessness, supported by simple Shaiva disciplines like Tripundra (bhasma) and Rudraksha where appropriate.
