(Sṛṣṭi-vistāra-praśnaḥ) — The Detailed Inquiry into Creation
kutracinna labhasveti saṃsthitiṃ kalahapriya | tava sānnidhyato loke bhavecca kalahassadā
Lord Shiva (inferred, Umāsaṃhitā narrative voice where Shiva instructs/corrects and dispels discord)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Bhairava
The verse condemns “kalaha” (discord) as a binding impurity of the mind—an aspect of pasha (bondage). From a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, peace, restraint of speech, and inner purity are necessary for grace (anugraha) and spiritual steadiness.
Linga-worship represents stabilizing consciousness in Shiva. This verse contrasts that steadiness with the destabilizing force of quarrel; devotion to Saguna Shiva (through Linga, mantra, and puja) is a discipline that cools agitation and restores harmony.
Practice japa of the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with a vow of gentle speech (mauna/mitabhāṣa), applying Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) as a reminder of detachment, and offering water to the Shiva Linga while consciously releasing anger and contentiousness.
