Kṛṣṇādi-Śivabhaktoddhāraṇa & Śiva-māhātmya-varṇana
Deliverance of Krishna and other devotees; Description of Shiva’s Greatness
gṛhādasau viniṣkrāṃtassaṃsmarañśaṃkaraṃ hṛdā | atha taṃ tanayaṃ dṛṣṭvā pitā taṃ prāha sāñjalim
Suta Goswami (narrating the Uma Samhita account to the sages)
Tattva Level: pashu
The verse highlights hṛdaya-smaraṇa—remembering Śiva inwardly—as a core Shaiva bhakti practice, showing that reverence and transformation begin within before any outer action.
By naming Śaṅkara and stressing inner remembrance, the verse supports Saguna upāsanā: the devotee holds the personal Lord in the heart, which naturally complements outward Linga worship with devotion and humility.
A simple takeaway is smaraṇa with añjali: silently repeat a Shiva mantra (such as the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while keeping the mind in the heart and maintaining a posture of humility and reverence.
