brahmāṇḍamūrdhnigā yā ca stutā vedaistu nityaśaḥ | jananī sarvavidyānāṃ guptavidyeti gīyate
Suta Goswami (narrating the Uma-saṃhitā teachings to the sages, inferred)
Tattva Level: pati

Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Lalitā
Role: creative
Offering: pushpa
Cosmic Event: brahmāṇḍa (cosmic egg) imagery—macrocosmic frame rather than a dated event
The verse praises the Divine Mother (Uma/Parvati) as the origin of all forms of knowledge and as ‘Gupta-vidya’—the inner, transformative wisdom that leads the soul (paśu) beyond bondage (pāśa) toward Shiva (Pati) and liberation.
In Shaiva Siddhanta, access to Shiva is supported by Shakti: Parvati is the revealer of mantra, meaning, and devotion. Thus Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva-upasana become fruitful through her ‘secret wisdom’—right understanding, right method, and grace.
The takeaway is to pursue mantra-japa and inner contemplation as ‘gupta-vidya’: steady remembrance of Shiva with devotion (often centered on the Panchakshara, Om Namaḥ Śivāya) while seeking the inner meaning rather than only outer ritual.
