The Account of Viśvānara Gṛhapati and Śiva’s Descent into the House of Fire
svargāpavargasampattikārakannātra saṃśayaḥ | sarvvastotrasamaṃ hyetatsarvvakāmapradaṃ sadā
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Explicitly links Śiva-stotra to both svarga (heavenly merit) and apavarga (mokṣa), mirroring kṣetra traditions where worship yields bhukti and mukti.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It declares that sincere praise of Lord Shiva through this stotra can lead to both worldly elevation (svarga) and the highest goal (apavarga/moksha), emphasizing Shiva as Pati who grants grace and release from bondage.
A stotra is a Saguna mode of approach—devotion to Shiva with attributes—often performed before the Shiva-linga; the verse affirms that such praise is a complete form of worship capable of granting both enjoyment and liberation through Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
Regular recitation of the Shiva-stotra with bhakti—ideally alongside Panchakshara japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), linga-archana, and, where traditional, Tripundra bhasma and Rudraksha—aimed at both purification and Shiva’s liberating grace.
