It highlights that suffering intensifies when its root—ignorance and bondage (pāśa)—is not recognized; liberation comes by turning to Shiva (Pati) as the revealer of the true cause and the remover of bondage.
When beings cannot discern the cause of their distress, the Purana points them toward Saguna Shiva—worshipped as the Linga—as a compassionate, accessible focus through which grace and right understanding arise.
A practical takeaway is steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and prayerful Linga-pūjā to seek Shiva’s guidance so the hidden cause of suffering is revealed and dissolved.
