The Subduing of Kāma (Desire) / Kāma’s Assault and Its Futility
babhūvāmoghamastraṃ tu moghaṃ tatparamātmani | samaśāmyattatastasminsaṃkuddhe parameśvare

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
It teaches that even an ‘infallible’ power becomes ineffective before Śiva as Paramātman (Pati), showing that all created forces are subordinate to the Supreme Lord, who alone governs their rise and cessation.
The verse underscores Saguna Śiva’s sovereign lordship: as Parameśvara he can neutralize any astra. Linga worship trains the devotee to recognize this absolute supremacy of Śiva, beyond fear of worldly or occult powers.
A practical takeaway is steadfast japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with devotion, remembering Śiva as Paramātman who pacifies all hostile forces and inner disturbances.
