Kṣaura-Snāna-Vidhi — Rite of Tonsure/Shaving and Purificatory Bath (Śaiva Procedure)

क्षुरं गृहीत्वा तारेण दक्षभागे निकृन्तयेत् । केशांश्च कांश्चि दग्रेषु वप्त्वा सर्वं च वापयेत्

Transliteration

kṣuraṃ gṛhītvā tāreṇa dakṣabhāge nikṛntayet | keśāṃśca kāṃści dagreṣu vaptvā sarvaṃ ca vāpayet

Translation

ಕ್ಷುರವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ‘ತಾರಕ’ (ಪ್ರಣವ ‘ಓಂ’) ಉಚ್ಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಮೊದಲು ಬಲಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಡನ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಮುಂಭಾಗದ ಕೆಲವು ಕೂದಲನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ, ನಂತರ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಶೇವಿಸಬೇಕು.
