Worship of Gajānana and the Procedure of Aupāsana-Homa
ततस्तेनैव शिष्येण श्रवणाद्यंगपूर्व्वकम् । प्रभातिकाद्यनुष्ठानं जपान्ते कारयेद्गुरुः
tatastenaiva śiṣyeṇa śravaṇādyaṃgapūrvvakam | prabhātikādyanuṣṭhānaṃ japānte kārayedguruḥ
ನಂತರ ಅದೇ ಶಿಷ್ಯನು ಶ್ರವಣಾದಿ ಅಂಗಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ, ಪ್ರಭಾತಕಾಲಾದಿ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಬೇಕು; ಅಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಗುರುವು ಮಂತ್ರಜಪದಿಂದ ಅವನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳಿಸಿಸಬೇಕು.

Significance: Daily regulated practice (prabhātika-anuṣṭhāna) is presented as the steady path to Śiva’s grace—turning ordinary time into sacred time.

It establishes the Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on disciplined sādhana under the Guru: hearing and assimilating instruction first, then performing daily observances, and sealing the practice with mantra-japa that turns action into Shiva-centered contemplation.
The verse frames worship as a guided routine: the disciple learns (śravaṇa) the right method and then performs regulated observances that typically culminate in japa—often of the Panchākṣarī—supporting Saguna Shiva devotion (including Linga-upāsanā) while purifying the mind toward realization.
A structured morning sādhana taught by the Guru—beginning with attentive listening to instructions and proceeding through prescribed observances—ending with mantra-japa (commonly the Shaiva mantra practice such as Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
