मा नो मर्ताय रिपवे रक्षस्विने माघशंसाय रीरधः । अस्रेधद्भिस्तरणिभिर्यविष्ठ्य शिवेभिः पाहि पायुभिः ॥
Transliteration
mā́ no mártāya ripáve rakṣasvíne mā́gha-śaṃsāya rīradhaḥ | asrédhad-bhis taráṇi-bhir yaviṣṭhya śivébhíḥ pāhi pāyú-bhiḥ ||
Translation
ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮರಣಶೀಲ ಶತ್ರುವಿಗೆ, ರಿಪುವಿಗೆ, ಅಂಧಕಾರದ ರಕ್ಷಕನಿಗೆ, ದುಷ್ಪ್ರಶಂಸಕನಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಬೇಡ. ಹೇ ಯವಿಷ್ಠ್ಯ (ಅತಿಕಿರಿಯ) ಅಗ್ನಿಯೇ, ಅಸ್ರೇಧದ (ಅಚಲ) ‘ತರಣಿ’ ಶಕ್ತಿಗಳಿಂದಲೂ, ಶಿವ (ಮಂಗಳ) ಪಾಯುಭಿಃ—ರಕ್ಷಕ ಆವರಣಗಳಿಂದಲೂ—ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡು.
