कबन्धमोक्षः—सुग्रीवमैत्र्युपदेशः
Kabandha’s Release and Counsel to Befriend Sugriva
दक्षः प्रगल्भो द्युतिमान्महाबलपराक्रमः।भ्रात्रा विवासितो राम राज्यहेतोर्महाबलः।।।।
dakṣaḥ pragalbho dyutimān mahābala-parākramaḥ | bhrātrā vivāsito rāma rājyahētōr mahābalaḥ ||
ಅವನು ದಕ್ಷನು, ವಾಕ್ಚಾತುರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಧೈರ್ಯವಂತನು, ತೇಜಸ್ವಿಯೂ ಹೌದು—ಮಹಾಬಲ-ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಗಳಿಂದ ಯುಕ್ತನು; ಆದರೂ, ಹೇ ರಾಮ, ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಆ ಮಹಾಬಲಿಯನ್ನು ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರನೇ ವನವಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
He is efficient, eloquent, brilliant. He is mighty and strong. (But) he is banished by his brother from the kingdom, O Rama !
Craving for power (rājya) can drive adharma even within family; rightful rule must be guided by justice rather than mere possession or force.
Kabandha continues describing Sugrīva’s qualities and the political cause of his exile—conflict over kingship.
Competence joined with endurance: despite being wronged, Sugrīva is portrayed as capable and strong, fit to be a dharmic ally.
