Yoga-Sleep, Cosmic Dissolution, and the Lotus of Creation

with Mārkaṇḍeya’s Vision

न ह्येष च सदाचारो देवेष्वपि ममोचितः । मां ब्रह्मापि हि सस्नेहो दीर्घायुरिति भाषते

na hyeṣa ca sadācāro deveṣvapi mamocitaḥ | māṃ brahmāpi hi sasneho dīrghāyuriti bhāṣate

Uncertain from single-verse context (speaker not explicitly named in the provided line).

Concept: Maryādā (proper conduct) in address and blessing is valued; yet the deeper lesson is that even revered beings rely on affectionate benedictions from higher authorities.

Application: Speak respectfully, especially to elders/teachers; offer blessings and goodwill—words shape relationships and inner purity.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: raudra

Type: celestial_realm

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A contemplative moment: the speaker gestures as if citing etiquette, while a luminous vision of Brahmā appears faintly above—bestowing an affectionate blessing ‘dīrghāyur bhava’ like a soft golden script in the air. The cosmic ocean is calmer now, reflecting the shift from indignation to reflection on dharma and affection.","primary_figures":["(implied) Mārkaṇḍeya","(implied) Brahmā (visionary)","Bhagavān (off-frame or present as listener)"],"setting":"Cosmic waters with a subtle visionary overlay of Brahmā’s presence; dialogue-space like a floating court","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["soft gold","pale blue","white","saffron","smoke grey"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central sage figure speaking of sadācāra, a small upper register showing Brahmā blessing with gold-leaf aura, embossed golden script-like motifs for the blessing, ocean bands with gold highlights, ornate frame and traditional iconography.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: gentle didactic scene with calm expressions, Brahmā as a faint celestial vignette above, cool blues with warm saffron accents, delicate calligraphic rendering of the blessing, spacious composition.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, Brahmā in upper panel with lotus seat, sage below gesturing, patterned waves, warm yellow-red highlights, temple mural border designs.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: two-tier composition—lower oceanic dialogue, upper Brahmā blessing vignette, ornate floral borders, gold accents, lotus motifs, decorative cartouche containing ‘dīrghāyur’ as stylized script."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":"Bhupali","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"reverent-soft","sound_elements":["soft temple bells","gentle drone","quiet water","brief contemplative silence"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: देवेष्वपि→देवेषु अपि; ममोचितः→मम उचितः; ब्रह्मापि→ब्रह्मा अपि; दीर्घायुरिति→दीर्घ-आयुः इति; सस्नेहः→स-स्नेहः (समास).

FAQs

The verse stresses sadācāra (upright conduct) as a binding norm even in divine society, implying that status does not excuse unethical behavior.

It functions as a benevolent blessing—Brahmā addresses the person affectionately and wishes longevity, highlighting a compassionate tone even amid moral reflection.

From this single line, the emphasis is primarily ethical (sadācāra) rather than a distinct Vaishnava theological claim or a creation narrative detail.
