Concept: The source of creation is simultaneously the source of Veda and smṛti—cosmic order and remembered dharma flow from the primordial principle/person.

Application: Treat learning as sacred: study (svādhyāya) and remembrance (smṛti) are offerings; keep a daily ‘smṛti’ practice—recall one dharmic principle and apply it.

FAQs

These are classic epithets of Brahmā: Hiraṇyagarbha indicates the cosmic golden origin-principle, and Padmagarbha points to Brahmā’s lotus-associated birth and role in creation.

It means “giver of smṛti,” i.e., the bestower of sacred remembrance and tradition—linking Brahmā to the transmission of Vedic knowledge and dharma through remembered teachings.

They present the creator-deity also as an ascetic authority—one who embodies discipline and ritual order—highlighting that creation is grounded in tapas (austerity) and regulated dharma.
