Puṣkara Invocation, the Dharma-Wheel at Naimiṣa, and the Padma Purāṇa Prologue
yathāśrutaṃ suvikhyātaṃ tatsarvaṃ kathayāmi vaḥ | dharma eṣa tu sūtasya sadbhirdṛṣṭaḥ sanātanaḥ
Sūta (the narrator/bard)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
Type: forest
Sandhi Resolution Notes:
It emphasizes faithful transmission—narrating the tradition “as heard” and as it is well-established, reflecting an ideal of accurate preservation of sacred lore.
It refers to the enduring duty of the Sūta (traditional narrator) to preserve, remember, and communicate revered accounts and teachings in a manner approved by the virtuous.
The implied ethic is integrity in teaching: speak truthfully, rely on authentic lineage of hearing, and align one’s narration with standards recognized by the wise and good.
