कौशिकस्यान्वये जातो वेदवेदांगपारगः । शिवशर्मेति मे नाम पितृमातृविवर्जितः

kauśikasyānvaye jāto vedavedāṃgapāragaḥ | śivaśarmeti me nāma pitṛmātṛvivarjitaḥ

ನಾನು ಕೌಶಿಕ ವಂಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದವನು; ವೇದ ಹಾಗೂ ವೇದಾಂಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾರಂಗತನು. ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರು ಶಿವಶರ್ಮ; ನಾನು ತಂದೆ-ತಾಯಿ ಎರಡೂ ಇಲ್ಲದವನು.
