The Vena Episode and the Sukalā Narrative: The Speaking Sow, Pulastya’s Curse, and Indra’s Appeal

tāmuvāca tato rājā sudevāṃ supriyāṃ tadā | pṛccha caināṃ śubhāṃ kāṃte kā ceyaṃ tu bhaviṣyati

FAQs

A king is speaking, addressing Sudevā as his beloved and instructing her to question an auspicious lady present there.

He wants to know the woman’s identity (“who is she?”) and her future outcome or destiny (“what will become of her?”).

The verse highlights careful inquiry and discernment in judgment—seeking clarity about a person’s identity and situation before drawing conclusions or taking action.
