मुक्त्वैकं ब्राह्मणं लोके नोक्तं शूद्रविशोरपि । दानं हि पालनं युद्धं तृतीयं भूभुजां स्मृतम् ॥ २ ॥
muktvaikaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ loke noktaṃ śūdraviśorapi | dānaṃ hi pālanaṃ yuddhaṃ tṛtīyaṃ bhūbhujāṃ smṛtam || 2 ||
ಈ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣನನ್ನು ಹೊರತುಪಡಿಸಿ ಶೂದ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ವೈಶ್ಯರಿಗೆ (ವಿಶೇಷ) ಕರ್ತವ್ಯವೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ರಾಜರಿಗೆ ದಾನ, ಪಾಲನೆ (ಪ್ರಜಾರಕ್ಷಣೆ) ಮತ್ತು ಯುದ್ಧ—ಈ ಮೂರು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಧರ್ಮಗಳೆಂದು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
