Adhyaya 61 — The Second Manvantara Begins: The Brahmin’s Swift Journey and Varuthini’s Temptation on Himavat
ब्राह्मण उवाच अष्टावात्मगुणा ये हि तेषामादौ दया द्विज ।
तां करोṣi कथं न त्वं मयि सद्धर्मपालक ॥
brāhmaṇa uvāca aṣṭāv ātma-guṇā ye hi teṣām ādau dayā dvija | tāṃ karoṣi kathaṃ na tvaṃ mayi saddharma-pālaka ||
ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಓ ದ್ವಿಜ, ಆತ್ಮನ ಎಂಟು ಗುಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ದಯೆಯೇ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ. ನೀನು ಸತ್ಯಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಧರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡು, ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಆ ದಯೆಯನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ತೋರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ?
