नापि क्षयमवाप्रोति परिणामं न गच्छति ।
छेदं क्लेदं तथा दाहं शोषं भूरादितो न च ॥
nāpi kṣayam avāpnoti pariṇāmaṃ na gacchati / chedaṃ kledaṃ tathā dāhaṃ śoṣaṃ bhūrādito na ca
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕ್ಷಯವಿಲ್ಲ, ಯಾವುದೇ ವಿಕಾರವೂ ಉಂಟಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಲಾಗದು, ನೆನೆಸಲಾಗದು, ಸುಡಲಾಗದು, ಒಣಗಿಸಲಾಗದು—ಪೃಥ್ವಿ ಮೊದಲಾದ ತತ್ತ್ವಗಳಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಗುವ ಕ್ಲೇಶಗಳು ಅದನ್ನು ಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

The Self is distinguished from the body and elements by being free from material modifications and injuries. Ethically this supports vairāgya: do not identify with what is cut, burned, or dried.
