Adhyaya 34 — Madālāsā’s Instruction on Sadācāra (Householder Conduct, Purity, and Daily Rites)
अन्तर्जानुस्तथाऽचामेत् त्रिश्चतुर्वा पिबेदपः ।
परिमृज्य द्विरास्यान्तं खानि मूर्धानमेव च ॥
antarjānus tathā 'cāmet triś caturvā pibed apaḥ | parimṛjya dvir āsyāntaṃ khāni mūrdhānam eva ca ||
ಮೂಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಡಚಿ ಯೋಗ್ಯ ಭಂಗಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಹಿತನಾಗಿ ಮೂರು ಬಾರಿ—ಅಥವಾ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಬಾರಿ—ನೀರನ್ನು ಸಿಪ್ ಮಾಡಿ ಆಚಮನ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ನಂತರ ಬಾಯಿಯ ಒಳಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಎರಡು ಬಾರಿ ಒರೆದು, ಇಂದ್ರಿಯದ್ವಾರಗಳನ್ನೂ ಶಿರಸ್ಸನ್ನೂ ಸಹ ಒರೆಯಬೇಕು.

Correct posture and precise method matter in small rites; the body is trained toward attentiveness, and the senses are ritually ‘reset’ toward restraint and cleanliness.

Wiping the ‘openings’ signifies sealing leakage of attention (indriya-saṃyama); cleansing mouth and head frames speech and thought as purified before entering worship, study, or meals.
