Adhyaya 15 — Karmic Retribution: Rebirths After Naraka and the King’s Compassion in Hell
कार्पासिके हृते क्रौञ्चो वल्कहर्ता बकस्तथा ।
मयूरो वर्णकान् हृत्वा शाकपत्रं च जायते ॥
kārpāsike hṛte krauñco vālkahartā bakas tathā | mayūro varṇakān hṛtvā śākapatraṃ ca jāyate
ಹತ್ತಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಕದ್ದವನು ಕ್ರೌಂಚ (ಸಾರಸ/ಕೊಕ್ಕು সদೃಶ ಪಕ್ಷಿ)ಯಾಗಿ ಜನ್ಮಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ವಲ್ಕಲ (ಮರತೊಗಟೆಯ ವಸ್ತ್ರ) ಕದ್ದವನು ಬಕ (ಕೊಕ್ಕು) ಆಗುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಬಣ್ಣ/ರಂಜಕ ದ್ರವ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕದ್ದವನು ನವಿಲಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಸೊಪ್ಪು-ತರಕಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕದ್ದವನು ‘ಶಾಕಪತ್ರ’ ಎಂಬ ಜೀವಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ.
