Sāvitrī’s Report and Nārada’s Prognosis (सावित्र्याख्यान—सत्यवान्-गुणवर्णनं तथा अल्पायुषः पूर्वसूचना)

वसतस्तस्य रामस्य तत: शूर्पणखाकृतम्‌ । खरेणासीन्महद्‌ वैरं जनस्थाननिवासिना,वहाँ रहते समय शूर्पणखाके (नाक, कान और ओंठ काटनेके) कारण श्रीरामचन्द्रजीका जनस्थान-निवासी खर नामक राक्षसके साथ महान्‌ वैर हो गया

vasatas tasya rāmasya tataḥ śūrpaṇakhākṛtam | khareṇāsīn mahad vairaṁ janasthānanivāsinā ||

ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ರಾಮನಿಗೆ, ಶೂರ್ಪಣಖೆಗೆ ನಡೆದದ್ದು (ಅವಳ ಮೂಗು, ಕಿವಿ, ತುಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿದುದು) ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿ, ಜನಸ್ಥಾನ ನಿವಾಸಿ ಖರ ರಾಕ್ಷಸನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಹಾವೈರ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತು।
