ब्राह्मणानुयात्रा—शौनकोपदेशः

Brāhmaṇas Follow into Exile and Śaunaka’s Instruction

मनोदेहसमुत्थाभ्यां दुःखाभ्यामर्दितं जगत्‌ । तयोव्याससमासा भ्यां शमोपायमिमं शृणु,“सारा जगत्‌ मानसिक और शारीरिक दु:खोंसे पीडित है। उन दोनों प्रकारके दुःखोंकी शान्तिका यह उपाय संक्षेप और विस्तारसे सुनिये

manodehasamutthābhyāṃ duḥkhābhyām arditaṃ jagat | tayor vyāsasamāsābhyāṃ śamopāyam imaṃ śṛṇu |

ವೈಶಂಪಾಯನನು ಹೇಳಿದರು— ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜಗತ್ತು ಎರಡು ವಿಧದ ದುಃಖಗಳಿಂದ ಪೀಡಿತವಾಗಿದೆ—ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಉದ್ಭವಿಸುವದು ಮತ್ತು ದೇಹದಿಂದ ಉದ್ಭವಿಸುವದು. ಈಗ ಅವೆರಡನ್ನೂ ಶಮನಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಈ ಉಪಾಯವನ್ನು ಸಂಕ್ಷೇಪವಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿವರವಾಗಿ ಕೇಳು.
