Educational Q&A

The verse praises the steadiness of the wise: even when confronted with material loss, severe crises, and troubles affecting one’s own people, they do not collapse inwardly. Ethical strength is shown as resilience and composure amid both physical pain and mental anguish.

The narrator Vaiśaṃpāyana comments on the character of the person being addressed, highlighting that such a noble/wise individual remains unshaken in the face of multiple kinds of adversity—personal, external, and familial—thereby setting a moral tone for the surrounding episode.
