कृतयुगवर्णनम् तथा राजधर्मोपदेशः

क्षीणे कलियुगे चैव प्रवर्तेत कृतं युगम् । एषा द्वादशसाहस्त्री युगाख्या परिकीर्तिता,कलियुगके क्षीण हो जानेपर पुनः सत्ययुगका आरम्भ होता है। इस तरह बारह हजार दिव्य वर्षोकी एक चतुर्युगी बतायी गयी है
kṣīṇe kaliyuge caiva pravarteta kṛtaṃ yugam | eṣā dvādaśasāhastrī yugākhyā parikīrtitā ||
ಕಲಿಯುಗವು ಕ್ಷೀಣಿಸಿ ಮುಗಿದಾಗ ಮತ್ತೆ ಕೃತ (ಸತ್ಯ) ಯುಗವು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ‘ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಸಾವಿರ’ (ದಿವ್ಯ ವರ್ಷಗಳ) ಯುಗಚಕ್ರವೆಂದು ಚತುರ್ಯುಗಿ ಪರಿಕೀರ್ತಿತವಾಗಿದೆ.
