Right counsel is grounded in dharma: first honor the worthy (especially sages), establish trust, and then speak or decide in alignment with the considered view of the learned (Brāhmaṇas) and the responsible stakeholders (the Pāṇḍavas).
Kṛṣṇa and the Pāṇḍavas, along with others present, formally honor a foremost sage. After the sage is respectfully received and seated in a trusting atmosphere, Kṛṣṇa begins to speak, presenting a view consistent with both the Brāhmaṇas’ judgment and the Pāṇḍavas’ position.
