अयं सम युद्धे मन्यते<न्यैरजेयं तमेकलव्यं नाम निषादराजम्‌ | वेगेनैव शैलमभिहत्य जम्भ: शेते स कृष्णेन हत: परासु:,“ये भगवान्‌ श्रीकृष्ण उस निषादराज एकलव्यको सदा युद्धके लिये ललकारा करते थे, जो दूसरोंके लिये अजेय था; परंतु वह श्रीकृष्णके हाथसे मारा जाकर प्राणशून्य हो सदाके लिये रणशय्यामें सो रहा है, ठीक उसी तरह, जैसे जम्भ नामक दैत्य स्वयं ही वेगपूर्वक पर्वतपर आघात करके प्राणशून्य हो महानिद्रामें निमग्न हो गया था

ayaṁ samyuddhe manyate 'nyair ajeyaṁ tam ekalavyaṁ nāma niṣādarājam | vegenaiva śailam abhihatya jambhaḥ śete sa kṛṣṇena hataḥ parāsuḥ ||

ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—ಇತರರು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಜೇಯನೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿದ್ದ ನಿಷಾದರಾಜ ಏಕಲವ್ಯನನ್ನು ಭಗವಾನ್ ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಮರುಮರು ಸಮರಕ್ಕೆ ಸವಾಲು ಹಾಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಆದರೆ ಇಂದು ಅವನು ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಹತನಾಗಿ ರಣಶಯ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾಣವಿಹೀನನಾಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದಾನೆ—ಜಂಭನೆಂಬ ದೈತ್ಯನು ತನ್ನದೇ ವೇಗದಿಂದ ಪರ್ವತಕ್ಕೆ ಡಿಕ್ಕಿ ಹೊಡೆದು ಪ್ರಾಣ ಕಳೆದು ಮರಣನಿದ್ರೆಗೆ ಜಾರಿದಂತೆ।
