भीष्म–रामजामदग्न्ययुद्धप्रस्थानवर्णनम्
Bhishma’s Account of Parashurama’s Challenge and the March to Kurukshetra
कौरवनरेश! उस समय परशुरामजीने अत्यन्त क्रुद्ध होकर मेरे ऊपर तुरंत ही दस हजार, लाख, दस लाख, अर्बुद, खर्ब और निखर्ब बाणोंका प्रहार किया ।। ततो<हं तानपि रणे शरैराशीविषोपमै: । संछिद्य भूमौ नृपते पातयेयं नगानिव,नरेश्वर! तब मैंने रणभूमिमें विषधर सर्पके समान भयंकर सायकोंद्वारा उन सब बाणोंको वृक्षोंकी भाँति भूमिपर काट गिराया
tato 'haṃ tān api raṇe śarair āśīviṣopamaiḥ | saṃchिद्य bhūmau nṛpate pātayeyam nagān iva ||
ಆಮೇಲೆ, ಹೇ ನೃಪತೆ! ರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ವಿಷಸರ್ಪದಂತೆ ಭಯಂಕರವಾದ ನನ್ನ ಬಾಣಗಳಿಂದ ಆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಛೇದಿಸಿ, ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿದು ಬೀಳಿಸುವಂತೆ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಬೀಳಿಸಿದೆನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಪರಶುರಾಮನ ಉಗ್ರ ಬಾಣವರ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ನಿಷ್ಫಲಗೊಳಿಸಿ, ಆಯುಧಗಳ ಬಿರುಗಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸ್ಥೈರ್ಯ ಕಾಪಾಡಿದೆನು.
