teṣāṃ śrāddhāni deyāni śrutvā bhārata bhāratam | brāhmaṇebhyo yathāśaktyā bhaktyā ca bharatarṣabha ||
ವೈಶಂಪಾಯನನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಓ ಭರತವಂಶಜನೇ! ಈ ಭಾರತಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ ಬಳಿಕ, ಅವರಿಗಾಗಿ ಶ್ರಾದ್ಧಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಬೇಕು; ಓ ಭರತಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಾ, ತನ್ನ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ದಾನ ನೀಡಬೇಕು।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse links hearing the Bhārata narrative with ethical action: one should honor the departed through śrāddha and support worthy recipients (Brāhmaṇas) with gifts given within one’s means, performed with devotion rather than display.
Vaiśaṃpāyana addresses a Bharata-descended listener, prescribing a concluding religious-ethical response to the heard account: perform śrāddha for those concerned and give offerings to Brāhmaṇas according to capacity, emphasizing bhakti.
