Adhyātma–Adhibhūta–Adhidaivata Correspondences and the Triguṇa Lakṣaṇas (Śānti-parva 301)
yad atra tathyaṁ tan me tvaṁ yathāvad vaktum arhasi | tvadṛte puruṣa nānyaṁ praṣṭum aham iha kaurava ||
The verse emphasizes disciplined truth-seeking: when a matter is subtle, one should approach a qualified authority and request an exact account (yathāvat), acknowledging the limits of one’s own certainty and the need for reliable guidance.
Yudhiṣṭhira, in the instruction-filled setting of the Śānti Parva, appeals to his elder teacher for a definitive explanation and states that he has no other suitable person present to question on this topic.
