जनक-राज्ञः मौण्ड्य-परिव्रज्या-विवादः
Janaka’s Renunciation Questioned; Discourse on Dāna and Detachment
“सदा ही याचना करनेवालेको और दम्भीको दी हुई दक्षिणा दावानलमें दी गयी आहुतिके समान व्यर्थ है ।।
jātavedā yathā rājan nādagdhvaivopaśāmyati | sadaiva yācamāno hi tathā śāmyati na dvijaḥ ||
ರಾಜನೇ! ಹೇಗೆ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಇಂಧನವನ್ನು ದಹಿಸದೆ ಶಮನವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಸದಾ ಯಾಚಿಸುವ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣನು ಆ ಯಾಚನಾವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸದೆ ಒಳಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸದಾ ಬೇಡುವವನಿಗೂ ದಂಭಿಯಿಗೂ ನೀಡುವ ದಕ್ಷಿಣೆ ದಾವಾನಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿದ ಆಹುತಿಯಂತೆ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೂ ಫಲರಹಿತವೂ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ.
