मृत्यु-काल-प्रबोधनम् (Instruction on Mortality, Time, and Truth) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 169
अस्थानक्रोधनो<्युक्तो यश्चाकस्माद् विरुध्यते । सुहृदश्चैव कल्याणानाशु त्यजति किल्बिषी
Bhīṣma uvāca: asthāna-krodhano 'yukto yaś cākasmād virudhyate | suhṛdaś caiva kalyāṇān āśu tyajati kilbiṣī ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಅಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಪಗೊಳ್ಳುವವನು, ಯುಕ್ತಿಹೀನನಾದವನು, ಅಕಸ್ಮಾತ್ತಾಗಿ ವಿರೋಧಿಯಾಗುವವನು, ಮತ್ತು ಪಾಪಸ್ವಭಾವದಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಹಿತವನ್ನು ಬಯಸುವ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಕಾರಿ ಸುಹೃದರನ್ನೂ ಬೇಗನೆ ತ್ಯಜಿಸುವವನು—ಅವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಧಿ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು. ಅಂಥ ಸ್ವಭಾವ ಸಂಕಟದಲ್ಲಿ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಹಾನಿಯೇ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ.
