ब्रवीषि मधुरं यच्च प्रियो मे5द्य भवानिति
bravīṣi madhuraṁ yac ca priyo me ’dya bhavān iti |
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದರು—“ನೀನು ಮಧುರವಾಗಿ ‘ಇಂದು ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರಿಯ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಕಾರಣವಿದೆ, ಮಿತ್ರನೇ! ಅದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಾನು ವಿವರವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಕೇಳು. ಕಾರಣದಿಂದಲೇ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಪಾತ್ರನಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಕಾರಣದಿಂದಲೇ ದ್ವೇಷಪಾತ್ರನಾಗುತ್ತಾನೆ.”
