काल प्राप्तमुपादद्यान्नार्थ राजा प्रसूचयेत् । अहन्यहनि संदुह्मान्महीं गामिव बुद्धिमान्
kāla-prāptam upādad yān nārthaṁ rājā prasūcayet | ahany ahani saṁduhmān mahīṁ gām iva buddhimān ||
ಭೀಷ್ಮನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತ ರಾಜನು ಯೋಗ್ಯ ಕಾಲ ಬಂದಾಗಲೇ ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳಿಂದ ರಾಜಸ್ವವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಬೇಕು; ಧನಸಂಗ್ರಹದ ತನ್ನ ನೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಬಾರದು. ವಿವೇಕಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಹಸುವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಹಾಲು ದೋಹಿಸುವಂತೆ, ರಾಜನು ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಪೋಷಿಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಅದರಿಂದ ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಬೇಕು.
