तयो: समभवद् युद्ध घोररूपमसंवृतम् । गदानिपातेै राजेन्द्र तक्षतोर्वै परस्परम्,राजेन्द्र! गदाकी चोटसे एक-दूसरेको घायल करते हुए उन दोनोंमें खुले तौरपर घोर युद्ध हो रहा था
tayor samabhavad yuddhaṃ ghorarūpam asaṃvṛtam | gadānipātai rājendra takṣator vai parasparam ||
ರಾಜೇಂದ್ರನೇ! ಗದೆಗಳ ಭೀಕರ ಪ್ರಹಾರಗಳಿಂದ ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಗಾಯಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಾ, ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರ ನಡುವೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಂಯಮವಿಲ್ಲದ ಘೋರ ಯುದ್ಧವು ಉದ್ಭವಿಸಿತು।
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights the stark openness of warfare: when conflict is joined, mutual harm follows from direct, unrestrained action. It implicitly frames martial valor as inseparable from grave ethical cost, reminding the listener that even ‘heroic’ combat is dreadful in its consequences.
Two warriors are engaged in a fierce mace-duel. Their fight is described as ghastly and fully exposed—each repeatedly striking the other with heavy mace-blows, wounding one another in close combat.
