अध्याय ३: कृपस्य दुर्योधनं प्रति नीत्युपदेशः

नान्यत् कर्मास्ति पापीय: क्षत्रियस्य पलायनात् | “इसलिये अपने बाप-दादोंके द्वारा आचरणमें लाये हुए धर्मका परित्याग न करो। क्षत्रियके लिये युद्ध छोड़कर भागनेसे बढ़कर दूसरा कोई अत्यन्त पापपूर्ण कर्म नहीं है
nānyat karmāsti pāpīyaḥ kṣatriyasya palāyanāt |
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು— ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯನಿಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧದಿಂದ ಪಲಾಯನ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಪಾಪಕರವಾದ ಕರ್ಮ ಮತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪಿತೃಪಿತಾಮಹರು ಆಚರಿಸಿದ ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸಬೇಡಿ; ರಣವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಓಡುವುದು ಕ್ಷತ್ರಿಯನಿಗೆ ಪರಮ ಪಾತಕ.
