Night at the Banyan and Drauṇi’s Resolve
diśaṁ prācīṁ samāśritya hṛṣṭānāṁ gacchatāṁ bhṛśam | rathanemisvanāś caiva śrūyante lomaharṣaṇāḥ ||

The verse highlights how the outward energy of war—speed, excitement, and the stirring roar of chariots—can intoxicate warriors; it implicitly frames battlefield exhilaration as a powerful force that can drive action beyond calm ethical reflection.
Sañjaya reports that the Pāṇḍava fighters are rapidly moving toward the east, and the rumbling, hair-raising sounds of their chariot wheels are distinctly audible, conveying urgency and heightened martial spirit.
