The verse highlights how concentrated skill and resolve in one’s appointed duty (here, kṣatriya warfare) can become overwhelming and field-defining—like sunlight filling all directions. It also hints at the ethical weight of such power: mastery in action has vast consequences.
Sañjaya describes Dṛṣṭadyumna in the thick of battle, releasing such a profusion of arrows that all directions seem covered, and he appears radiant—compared to the sun spreading its rays everywhere.
