ततः स्वरथमारोप्य पाञ्चाल्यमरिमर्दन: । अब्रवीदभिसपम्प्रेक्ष्य द्रोणमस्यन्तमन्तिकात्,पांचालराजकुमार धृष्टद्युम्न रथहीन हो गये थे। उनके सारे अस्त्र-शस्त्र नष्ट हो चुके थे और वे भारी विषादमें डूब गये थे। उस अवस्थामें शत्रुमर्दन बलवान् भीमसेन उन महामनस्वी पांचालवीरके पास तुरंत आ पहुँचे और उन्हें अपने रथपर बिठाकर द्रोणाचार्यको निकटसे बाण चलाते देख इस प्रकार बोले---
tataḥ svaratham āropya pāñcālyam arimardanaḥ | abravīd abhisamprekṣya droṇam asyantam antikāt ||
ಆಮೇಲೆ ಶತ್ರುಮರ್ದನ ಭೀಮಸೇನನು ಪಾಂಚಾಲಕುಮಾರನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ರಥದ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿಸಿದನು. ಸಮೀಪದಿಂದ ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ದ್ರೋಣಾಚಾರ್ಯನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಅವನು ಹೀಗೆಂದನು.
