Chapter 148: Karṇa’s Pressure, Dhṛṣṭadyumna Unhorsed, and the Summoning of Ghaṭotkaca
शल्यं दुर्योधनं चैव षड़भि: षड़भिरताडयत् | वृषसेनं तथाष्टाभि: षष्ट्या सैन्धवमेव च,उन्होंने कृपाचार्यको बीस, कर्णको पचास तथा शल्य और दुर्योधनको छ:-छ: बाण मारे। साथ ही वृषसेनको आठ और सिंधुराज जयद्रथको साठ बाणोंसे घायल कर दिया
śalyaṃ duryodhanaṃ caiva ṣaḍbhiḥ ṣaḍbhir atāḍayat | vṛṣasenaṃ tathāṣṭābhiḥ ṣaṣṭyā saindhavam eva ca |
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಅವನು ಶಲ್ಯನನ್ನೂ ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನನ್ನೂ ತಲಾ ಆರು ಬಾಣಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದನು. ವೃಷಸೇನನನ್ನು ಎಂಟು ಬಾಣಗಳಿಂದಲೂ, ಸಿಂಧುರಾಜ ಜಯದ್ರಥನನ್ನು ಅರವತ್ತು ಬಾಣಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ವಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದನು.
संजय उवाच
Even within the harsh duty of war, action is portrayed as deliberate and proportioned: the narrative highlights disciplined force directed at key leaders, reflecting kṣatriya-dharma where resolve and strategy operate within an accepted martial code.
Sañjaya reports a warrior (contextually, a principal fighter in the battle) striking major Kaurava figures—Śalya, Duryodhana, Vṛṣasena, and Jayadratha—with specified numbers of arrows, signaling an escalation and a tactical focus on prominent commanders.
