Adhyāya 141 — Night duels: Śaineya and Bhūriśravas; Droṇi and Ghaṭotkaca; Bhīma and Duryodhana
वैहायसं प्राक्रमद् वै कर्णस्य व्यथयन्मन: । कर्णके धनुषसे छूटे हुए बाणोंद्वारा घायल किये जाते हुए बलवान् भीमसेन कर्णके मनमें व्यथा उत्पन्न करते हुए उसे पकड़नेके लिये आकाशमें उछले || ७४ $ ।। स तस्य चरितं दृष्टवा संग्रामे विजयैषिण:
vaihāyasaṁ prākramad vai karṇasya vyathayan manaḥ | karṇake dhanuṣase chūṭe hue bāṇoṁdvārā ghāyal kiye jāte hue balavān bhīmasena karṇake manameṁ vyathā utpanna karte hue use pakaṛne ke liye ākāśameṁ uchale || 74 || sa tasya caritaṁ dṛṣṭvā saṅgrāme vijayaiṣiṇaḥ
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದನು—ಕರ್ಣನ ಧನುಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟ ಬಾಣಗಳಿಂದ ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೂ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ಭೀಮಸೇನನು ಕರ್ಣನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಲು ಆಕಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಜಿಗಿದನು; ಆ ಧೈರ್ಯಪ್ರಯತ್ನವು ಕರ್ಣನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಥೆಯನ್ನೂ ಆತಂಕವನ್ನೂ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಿತು. ಭೀಮನ ಆ ನಡೆ ಕಂಡು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜಯವನ್ನು ಬಯಸಿದ ಯೋಧನು (ಕರ್ಣನು) ತದನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿದನು.
