Educational Q&A

Heroic aims require heroic support: a warrior pursuing honorable fame in battle can be effectively aided only by someone of equal courage and martial resolve; ordinary people lack the steadiness and capacity demanded by such a task.

In the midst of the Drona Parva’s intense battle context, Yudhiṣṭhira reflects on the nature of battlefield assistance, stressing that true support for a valorous fighter comes only from another śūra (heroic warrior), not from a merely common person.
