Irāvān-nidhana-anantaraṃ Ghaṭotkaca-nādaḥ

After Irāvān’s fall: Ghaṭotkaca’s roar and the clash with Duryodhana

sa tu dhairyeṇa taṃ kopaṃ saṃnivārya mahāyaśāḥ | śrutāyuṣaḥ praciccheda muṣṭideśe mahādhanuḥ ||

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dhairya—steadfast self-control—as a mark of true nobility: anger is restrained and redirected into precise, proportionate action, aligning martial power with ethical discipline.

In the battle scene narrated by Sañjaya, Yudhiṣṭhira suppresses his anger and disables Śrutāyus by cutting his bow at the hand-grip, neutralizing the immediate threat without being driven by uncontrolled rage.
